I’m located in Geneva, Illinois- about an hour west of Chicago! I’d say if you’re going into the city, my three favorite recommendations would be:

  1. Go see a show! The talent in Chicago is AMAZING
  2. To get a killer skyline view, try a Sailing Charter or a Helicopter Tour
  3. Grab a drink or appetizer at one of the incredible rooftop restaurants. One of my personal favorites is the Wit!

  1. Go to the beach (obviously!) Fort Lauderdale beach off Las Olas and A1A is a great hot spot.
  2. Dinner and drinks at Louie Bossie and then pop in and out of shops and bars on Las Olas; the people-friendly atmosphere is awesome.
  3. Take a tour of the intercoastal on the Water Taxi or cruise the Everglades with Billy’s Swamp Safari

My name is Mary Cate and I am from Columbia, SC. I live here with my husband, Brice (a true native), and our three pups. If you are in town, you should:

  1. Go to breweries! We don’t have a ton, but the ones we do are fantastic. My favorite? Columbia Craft.
  2. Go to the Riverbanks Zoo. It has won all sorts of awards.
  3. Visit the University of South Carolina and catch a football game. The Gamecocks aren’t the best team, but our fans are the most fun.

The Rochester, NY area has more to offer than many realize.

  1. We’re festival city with events all year long, even in winter
  2. Gotta try a Garbage Plate at one of the many area restaurants that serve (Tahou’s is the original and has trademarked the name, so also look for landfill plate, refuse plate, etc.). Google it . . .
  3. We’re close to the Finger Lakes, so plenty of wine options and we have a ton of small craft brewhouses and distilleries to take advantage of.

And if you want to expand beyond the immediate area, we’re an hour from Buffalo and Syracuse, a little over an hour to Niagara Falls and Ithaca (heart of the Finger Lakes), 4 hours to Cleveland, 3 hours to Pittsburgh and Toronto, 6 hours to New York City and Boston.

Luigi’s is the best pizza and pasta in town! Get there early; it’s always packed! The Metro Parks in Akron and Cleveland are linked to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The beavers and bald eagles are amazing. Canal Park offers great family-friendly minor league baseball with the Rubber Ducks. We’re not far from the Football Hall of Fame i Canton and the Rock-and-Roll hall of Fame in Cleveland. We also have an impressive orchestra and E.J. Thomas Hall Performing Arts Center. So much to see and do!

Chattanooga Tennessee has been voted best outdoor city by Outside Magazine readers three years in a row. 150 miles of groomed Mtn bike trails, the fast flowing Tennessee river, 45 miles from the foot of the great Smokey Mtns!! What’s not to love. Amazing downtown restaurants and hour and a half from Atlanta, Knoxville, and Nashville.

Hello! I am from Tempe, Arizona, and you need to be prepared for the heat! It’s great and there’s a lot of activities, but definitely come in the Winter if you’re not used to 100+ weather. Some of my recommendations for the Phoenix area include shopping at Scottsdale Fashion Square or Kierland, hike Camelback mountain, and paddleboat on Tempe Town Lake!

Henlo frens! I’m located in Orlando, FL (my original hometown, Coral Springs/Parkland, FL is boring, so I’ll just talk Orlando instead :stuck_out_tongue:), and I’m pretty sure you know all the major attractions such as WDW, Universal and SeaWorld, so here are some must-do’s that won’t break the bank and from a local!

  1. Lake Eola Park (especially the farmer’s market on Sundays )
  2. If you’re a foodie, East End Market (don’t even get me started on Gideon’s Bakehouse!!)
  3. Not to sound biased, but Margaritaville Resort Orlando and Promenade at Sunset Walk. Fun Fact: It’s the site of an abandoned theme park called Splendid China, which has a lot of unique history and controversy behind it. You may or may not find some remnants of it around town, so be sure to keep an eye out!
